Eight days offline and counting. Ahold's cyberattack is now a full-blown produce distribution problem.

Ahold Delhaize said Monday it expects U.S. ecommerce services to come back online "in the coming days" after a cyberattack took all five of its U.S. banner websites and apps offline eight days ago. Stop & Shop and The Giant Co. are offering customers 10% discounts — up to $10 — on their next in-store purchase to compensate. The company filed a formal police report with Dutch police on Monday and said its investigation has found no evidence of sensitive customer, associate, or partner data being taken so far.

Some international banners have already restored service — Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, Etos, Gall & Gall, and most Central and Southeastern European banners are back up. In the U.S., affected banners redirected customers to DoorDash, Instacart, and Uber Eats while direct online ordering remained down. The incident also coincided with a separate cyberattack in France that caused refrigerators at hundreds of stores to heat up to 122°F, resulting in widespread food losses — though Ahold has not connected the two events.

For produce suppliers with programs at Stop & Shop, Giant, or Hannaford, the continued outage is worth monitoring for any downstream effects on order flow, promotional execution, and replenishment timing as the chains work to fully restore operations.
