Today's Feature Story

01 Supply
285,000 tons of Chilean avocados are coming. That's the most in 17 years.

Chile's avocado crop is projected at 285,000 tons for the 2026–27 season, roughly 10% above last year and the country's highest output since 2009–10. The forecast is supported by favorable growing conditions, improved agricultural management, and expanded use of technology to optimize yields.

Chile is the world's second-largest per capita consumer of Hass avocados after Mexico, with domestic consumption hitting a record 8.9 kilograms per capita in 2025. Export programs currently reach about 40 international markets, with shipments to Latin America — particularly Argentina — growing, alongside developing opportunities in Asia.

A record Chilean avocado crop arriving into a market that already saw Michoacán's season close at 1.25 million tons to the U.S. is worth tracking. Buyers should watch how Chilean volumes time against Peruvian and Californian supply windows and whether the added tonnage puts downward pressure on import pricing into Q1 2027.
