Publix is pulling frozen organic blueberries after 12 confirmed E. coli cases

Publix is recalling a lot of its Frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries after 12 confirmed cases of E. coli O145:H28 were reported between May 11 and June 5, 2026. The recall traces back to the Chilean supplier, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., which initiated the original recall. Publix followed with its own pull once the supplier's action was confirmed.

This is a significant food safety event — E. coli O145 is a serious pathogen, and a confirmed case count of 12 tied to a single lot makes this more than a precautionary measure. Frozen berries have been at the center of previous E. coli and norovirus outbreaks, and a Chilean origin means the supply chain spans multiple continents before reaching U.S. shelves.

Watch for potential ripple effects on consumer confidence in frozen organic blueberries heading into peak summer demand. Retailers carrying similar Chilean-origin frozen berry SKUs may want to verify their sourcing and lot details proactively.
