Stone fruit volumes are building globally — but hail and weather damage are keeping quality uneven

The global stone fruit market is entering a period of expanding supply as Northern Hemisphere harvests ramp up across multiple countries. Peaches, nectarines, apricots, and flat peaches are all seeing larger volumes reach the market, though weather-related challenges including hail have created quality inconsistencies in some producing regions.

For North American buyers, this global supply context matters because import competition and export pricing can ripple into domestic market dynamics, particularly for premium stone fruit categories. Uneven quality across origins also creates opportunities for well-positioned domestic shippers to capture premium placement.

With California stone fruit already running three to four weeks ahead of schedule and varieties stacking up, buyers should watch for pricing volatility as both domestic and import supply converge. Quality sorting and sourcing discipline will be important over the next several weeks.
